Hair Inspiration 9.4.12 - Solange Knowles

Solange is definitely a hair-fashionista. She has always been on the scene with awesome hair. From rocking her own natural fro, to curly weaves, sleek strands, to waist length braids and the sky-high braided bun. Here's a few pics of my favorite styles Ms. Knowles has rocked.

The Evelyn Lozada Bun + Bang style

Evelyn Lozada    from Basketball Wives Miami wore this style on the last reunion episode and Youtube went crazy with tutorials. The style is sophisticated, pretty, and versatile. Here's a couple tutorials I liked and wanted to share.

Crochet Braids

After hearing about these "crochet braids" from several different people over the last several years, I randomly found myself watching Youtube tutorials on this style. And I must say, it looks beautiful & very easy to do. I think I may try them on myself and possibly offer them to the public.

Here's a couple videos of the hairstyle.

Hair Inspiration 5.29.12

I ran across this video late last night and fell in love with her hair. Her length alone is amazing! This first video is of her hair journey, the second one is of her doing a length check. Enjoy!

Hot Oil Treatments

This is a old post I had sitting in Drafts for a while. Hope it helps someone.

Hi there! So today I did a MUCH needed hot oil treatment. My hair recently has been dry, brittle, & in need of moisture. I have been keeping up with my moisturize & seal treatments every night (even when I was out of town) but that was not enough. I used a mixture of extra virgin olive oil & raw shea butter (white). I almost burned it up on the stove, but I caught it in time.

A couple tips when doing an at home hot oil treatment:

  1. Use a great essential oil like olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, or melted shea butter.
  2. Saturate your hair, concentrating on the ends.
  3. THE OIL DOES NOT NEED TO BE HEATED IF YOU ARE GOING TO SIT UNDER THE DRYER.
  4. If you do decide to heat the oil, make sure it is not scalding hot to cause burns or discomfort to yourself.

Here are a couple videos and links about the benefits of a hot oil treatment! Enjoy & healthy hair!

I'm back!! Again.

I have fell completely off the bandwagon with this blogging thing but I am back!! And have some great stuff to talk about with my own transitioning journey & just random hair talk.

I am currently 1year, 2 days post relaxer. I am wearing my hair in a braid-out as of today & I love it! (I'll post a pic later) But for now, this pic of me rocking some kinky twists will have to do! Enjoy!!
